PRL Emerges: A Sister League Opens a Tunnel Beneath the Aerie

February 09, 2026
By the GBL Weekly Desk (Sources: a group chat, a shipping receipt, and a man whispering “keeper value” into a Dunkin’ cup.)

The George Brett League has never been a normal league. It is a living thing—part baseball, part folklore, part ongoing social experiment in whether grown adults can be trusted with keeper lists and a group chat.

And now, like any old city with secrets under its streets, it’s expanding.

Introducing the Poudre River League (PRL): The Sister League

League officials confirmed today the creation (or discovery) of a sister league: the Poudre River League (PRL)—a parallel realm designed to do one thing extremely well:

Keep the baseball flowing. Keep the owners flowing. Keep the chaos contained.

PRL exists as a recruiting tunnel between worlds: a practical bridge between NL and AL ecosystems so open teams don’t rot on the vine and good owners don’t drift into the void. Two leagues. Two tracks. One shared purpose: keep the competition alive and the culture sharp.

Each league will have its own website, its own flavor, and its own brand of nonsense. But make no mistake:

GBL and PRL are blood-related.

Two Trophies. Same Crown, Two Thrones.

To formalize the bond without mixing the bloodlines, there will be two identical traveling trophiesone for each league.

Not one relic passed around like a family heirloom.
This is cleaner than that. Meaner than that.

Matching crowns. Separate reigns.

The trophy will travel within its own league, accumulating bragging rights, fingerprints, and whatever haunted energy follows championship teams around like cheap cologne. Win it and you hold it. Lose it and you watch it show up in someone else’s photos like a curse.

The Naturals Are Dead. Long Live the Boston Blackwings.

In other news from the shadowed rafters: the New England Naturals have rebranded.

They are now the Boston Blackwings—and they will be playing at The Aerie, a stadium that feels less like a ballpark and more like a place where oaths get made and broken.

This isn’t “new colors, same mediocrity.”
This is a statement:

Boston is claimed. The Morrígan is watching. And the bird is hungry.

Ownership Watch: Rebels & Chumps

Yes, the league is still in that familiar seasonal state where reality blurs into legend and the commissioner’s patience becomes a measurable statistic.

The Chumps remain a team of interest, but we need to correct the record:
Despite earlier tire-kicking theatrics, José Vega has not committed.

He is still circling the roster with the measured confidence of a man who has stared down an impossible HVAC unit and decided the unit should be ashamed of itself.

He is interested. He is evaluating.
He has not signed anything.
He is, in short, behaving like a sane person—something GBL does not typically reward.

The Rebels, meanwhile, remain available—but the league is choosing restraint and respect.

We have been unable to reach Brian, and we are giving him more time—because he has been part of this league since 2007, which in GBL years is basically “founding-era elder.”

You don’t erase a long-standing owner because the group chat gets impatient.
Not here. Not in a league built on continuity and long memory.

Rules Voting: Coming Once the Dust Settles

Lastly: once the Chumps sale is finalized, the league intends to open up voting on rules.

Not everything—relax. We’re not turning this into a democracy with vibes and no structure.

But yes: certain items will go to a proper vote once ownership stabilizes—clear options, clear stakes, no endless circular arguments that end with someone posting a GIF and leaving the chat.

What This Means

This isn’t a crisis. It’s evolution.

  • PRL is live and will serve as a sister league and recruiting tunnel.
  • GBL and PRL each have an identical traveling trophy—matching in design, separate in destiny.
  • New England Naturals are now the Boston Blackwings, playing at The Aerie.
  • Chumps interest is real, but José Vega has not committed.
  • Rebels timeline is extended out of respect for Brian (since 2007).
  • Rules voting is coming once ownership is settled.

If you’ve been waiting for a league with history, culture, and enough organized chaos to feel alive:

This is your moment. Inquiries are open. Rumors are welcome.
And somewhere, beneath the Aerie, the tunnel is being dug. 🐦‍⬛
